Ronie's For the Love of Birds opened
November 8, 1997, with the intent of informing the public, along
with avian owners, of how majestic these creatures are. Ronie's
For The Love of Birds has been voted the best boarding facility
by "City Weekly"and voted Best Pet Store by "Sandy
Newspaper". Ronie has a vast knowledge of avian nutrition
and behavior and brings over 20 years of experience to the pet
bird industry. Her facility is a friendly, enjoyable experience
that offers individuals the opportunity to spend quality time
with a large selection of parrots. To ensure healthy
baby birds for her customers, Ronie selects bird breeders
who have extensive tests done on their breeding stock to ensure
the parent's health. These breeders understand the importance
of socializing their baby birds with humans and other birds.
This socializing process continues at Ronie's. Healthy, well-socialized,
and hand-fed baby birds are what you will find
at Ronie's.
Parrots are lovable, playful, mischievous, and active companions
requiring a long-term commitment because they can live up to
80 years, depending on the individual species. The average parrot
goes through nine homes in their lifetime,
depending on the species. To prevent this, Ronie's goal is to
help educate her customers and the community about parrot behavior.
Parrots have similar behavior to a two-year-old child and require
daily interaction and guidelines from their human companions.
New parrot owners will find that pet birds are unlike any other
animal. Each parrot has it's own personality. They are intelligent,
quick to learn, and sometimes seem to think that they are human.
They need to be part of the family environment and activities.
Parrots continue to learn throughout their lifetimes and have
long memories. Some parrots can even talk.
Customer education starts-with the human/parrot "flock"
immediately after
entering the store.
Customers learn that companion parrot behavior is important
to the longevity of the relationship. Ronie's customers begin
the parrot/human bonding by regularly visiting the store to
handle their chosen baby bird. Questions are encouraged and
answered. Books and magazines are recommended. The baby parrot
goes home after it is weaned and eating well on its own. It goes home with a starter kit that includes:
an educational packet
free veterinarian check-up
free grooming for life
and the seed and pellets that the baby was weaned on.
Ronie
goes through extraordinary efforts to help her avian parent customers
understand and care for their parrots, throughout all stages of
their lives. Her love and knowledge of exotic birds is
remarkable.
Staff members are available for information
on a variety of subjects, including health, husbandry and behavior.
They are also knowledgable on various products at Ronie's. You
can be assured that every day an effort is made to provide the
